The term CBD oil has become increasingly popular in the Netherlands in recent years, and more and more people are now incorporating CBD products into their daily lives in multiple ways. Cannabidiol has undoubtedly become a part of many people's routines in many cultures, for the simple reason that many people are using it and sharing their experiences. Moreover, CBD oil is quite easy to consume.
That said, many of us feel compelled to learn more about what we eat, why we eat, and what it does to our bodies. At Nordic Oil, creating awareness, educating people and making CBD more accessible is at the forefront of our mission, and this is reflected in our high-quality and innovative products.
We encourage you to take the time to read, understand and make informed decisions about CBD when buying Nordic Oil CBD oil, CBD dietary supplements, CBD capsules or CBG oil. Below is a detailed overview of our CBD oil products.
What does CBD or CBD oil mean?
CBD stands for cannabidiol.
What is CBD?
CBD is one of the 'cannabinoids' (alongside THC and CBG) naturally present in the cannabis plant, cannabis sativa plant or hemp plant. Simply put, 'cannabinoids' are active chemical compounds found in many plants. However, the term cannabinoid is often associated with only one type of plant - the cannabis plant. Cannabidiol (or CBD oil as many of you will know it), is one of the most popularised and best researched cannabinoids.
To date, research has led to the discovery of more than 500 natural chemical ingredients from cannabis. Yet less than 100 cannabinoids have actually been identified. Of these, CBD and THC and CBG are the best known. So it is important to remember that there is therefore still a lot of knowledge to be gained from unidentified cannabinoids. Other cannabinoids from the cannabis plant that have already been identified and researched include THC, CBN, THCV, CBG, CBC, CBL, and many more.
Each of these cannabinoids possesses different qualities due to their different chemical structures, of which THC and CBD have been studied most extensively. Notably, THC, due to its psychoactive properties or intoxicating effects when consumed in large quantities. But, unlike THC, CBD does not exhibit psychoactive effects because its molecular structures are arranged differently.
What makes a cannabinoid psychoactive?
Don't you wonder how hundreds of compounds from the same plant (cannabis) can possess such different qualities?
First, to classify and study plant species that are geographically widespread around the world, we have to take into account their respective botanical complexity. Secondly, the existing classification of Cannabis species is based on their medical properties for pharmacological applications. The scientific literature on cannabis therefore includes a broad classification (also called chemotypes) of cannabis, classified by both drug type and fibre type. The drug types are used and researched for medicinal purposes, and the fibre types for various commercial purposes.
So, the psycho activity of a cannabinoid may depend on:
- The ratio of THC to CBD
- The molecular structure of the atoms
- Interactions with other chemicals.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is an extract from the cannabis plant. We mentioned above some terms such as strains, species and chemotypes, all of which refer to the different varieties of cannabis. Cannabis Species with high CBD content are also selectively grown.
The next important aspect to consider when learning about CBD oil is the carrier oils. Cannabis Extracts are highly lipophilic. Hence, they often need a 'carrier' to make it easy for the body to absorb and digest them. carrier oils thus help improve the bioavailability of CBD. CBD also combines well with fatty substances, as they help increase the absorption of the cannabinoid. For instance, hemp seed oil fractionated MCT oil and black cumin seed oil (nigella sativa) are some of the carrier oils predominantly used in CBD oil.
Buy Nordic Oil CBD oil.
We at Nordic Oil use hemp seed oil, as a carrier oil in our CBD oil, mainly because of its many health benefits. Hemp seed is rich in essential fatty acids such as omega-6 and omega-3 and is considered a superfood.
Black cumin seed oil (nigella sativa) is also used as a carrier oil in CBD oil with curcumin (turmeric or turmeric root) and is available in strengths of 15% and 20%. Our bestselling Full Spectrum CBD oil are available in 5%, 15% and 20% concentrations with less than 0.05% THC.
What is CBD oil good for?
It is indeed an extensive and subjective discussion. There is an ever-growing collection of information on the internet and one can easily find claims or experiences about the range of potential health benefits of CBD oil. At Nordic Oil, we aim to inform you with reliable and research-backed information, to create a practical guide for people who want to get the best from nature.
From a research perspective, the range of health benefits offered by cannabinoids and their applicability to various conditions is a work in progress. However, experts in the field are actively discussing the potential medicinal applications of various cannabinoids, including CBD oil.
There are therefore several aspects to consider when researching the health benefits of CBD, or other cannabinoids for that matter:
How do cannabinoids flow in the human body?
The influence of various aspects such as formulation, route of administration, metabolism, other health conditions and ongoing medications, and how these affect the effectiveness of CBD oil.
Understand how best to administer CBD and how to tailor the dosage to the individual's needs.
How do you take CBD oil?
Taking CBD oil is a simple process.
- One of the most efficient and common ways to consume CBD oil is by taking it sublingually (under the tongue). Place the drops directly under your tongue, hold for a minute to allow the oil to disperse, and then swallow. The small blood vessels or capillaries under the tongue help absorb substances quickly into the bloodstream without passing through the digestive system.
- Another popular method of taking CBD oil is to add the drops directly to your food, hot drinks and cold beverages. Some people also prefer to infuse CBD oil with essential oils and apply it to their skin.
How much CBD oil should I take?
Similar to trying new foods, start with small amounts when you begin using CBD. Our bottles of CBD oil contain a pipette to make use easy and practical. On the label, you'll find the amount of CBD in mg per drop, as well as a recommended daily dosage guide. Our tip: Stand in front of a mirror when you take the drops, so you can clearly see how much oil comes out of the pipette. When it comes to dosage, each individual may need a different dose. If you are a beginner and eager to incorporate CBD into your routine, follow the 'start low and slow' method. Experienced users can opt for a higher dose.
Can I take CBD oil every day?
Yes, you can take CBD oil every day and incorporate it into your daily routine. As you begin your special journey with CBD, it is important not to overload your system, as in the beginning it is often the case that 'less is more' (Less is more).
Some users who take CBD regularly over a period of many months pause for a few days or sometimes a week to give the body a chance to reset itself, so to speak. This approach of taking a break can help the body maximise the positive effect of CBD.
CBD oil effect. What exactly do you feel?
This is undoubtedly one of the most common questions one may have when starting a CBD oil routine. Above all, you need to understand that CBD is non-psychoactive and does not get you high (no 'high' feeling). So, how does CBD oil make you feel? What is the CBD oil effect?
Overall, CBD can help put the body and mind in a more balanced state, which could make you feel more relaxed and calm.
All our CBD oils are also full-spectrum and can therefore enhance the effects of CBD due to a so-called 'entourage effect'. This is because full-spectrum contains all major cannabinoids of the hemp plant (not just CBD), such as CBDa, CBN, CBC, as well as traces of THC and THCa (less than 0.05%) and also naturally occurring terpenes.
Is the entourage effect of full spectrum CBD the same as feeling 'high'?
Feeling 'High' or 'stoned' is different from the entourage effect. A full spectrum CBD oil brings out the total effect of all cannabinoids and terpenes with positive results, without the risk of psychoactive effects or feeling 'high'.
Our experience shows that the entourage effect can bring much wider health benefits because the whole cannabis plant is used, so that is why we incorporate it. Only psychoactive cannabinoids are responsible for the high that most people fear. Feeling 'high' can be a relaxing experience accompanied by a number of unwanted effects such as delusions, confusion, paranoia, and others. An isolated formulation of pure CBD oil will not provide the benefits of the entourage effect.
Is CBD oil safe? Can CBD do any harm?
There are two sides to the safety aspect of CBD. When it comes to consumption, a 2018 WHO (World Health Organisation) evaluation report has stated that CBD is well tolerated with a good safety profile and there are no public health issues associated with CBD so far.
This said, as with all dietary supplements, the use of CBD and its effects are based on different individual conditions. Hence, it is a normal topic to talk to your doctor who can guide you with the right dosage of CBD. Here, it is important to take into account any other medications you are taking, as well as pre-existing health conditions and physical complaints.
CBD oil legislation in the Netherlands
With regard to legal safety, the legislative landscape is constantly changing to ensure the legal supply of CBD products. The legal status of CBD oil is not only complicated, but also constantly evolving in the Netherlands.
The growing public interest and demand for hemp-derived CBD products has led to rigorous interventions by public health and safety authorities. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Europe regulate matters surrounding cannabis and hemp-derived CBD products.
In addition, there are some safety measures you should keep in mind when looking for CBD products. There are several brands online that promote CBD products. Therefore, it is your responsibility to check and inquire about the quality of the product. Each CBD product has different strengths, and some products may contain less CBD than the amount stated on the labels.
Nordic Oil CBD products follow the highest standard practices for production and quality control. Our CBD products are accurately and clearly labelled to help provide you with the necessary information and instructions. Our third-party lab test reports provide transparent information on the product standard, what it contains and in what percentages. Moreover, our customer service team is ready to help you with all your questions about CBD via phone, chat or email.
Side effects of CBD oil
In general, no adverse side effects have been reported from customers when using CBD oil. However, on a case-by-case basis, one may experience dry mouth, mood swings, or drowsiness. Again, these reactions may vary based on age, metabolism, lifestyle, prevailing health condition, other use of medication for another specific disease or condition, etc. For people suffering from any ailment or health condition, make it a habit to talk to your GP or medical advisor about including CBD in your daily life.
CBD oil and pregnancy
We strongly advise against taking CBD oil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as not enough research has been done in this area.
